Townsville and Brolga Brass are back home after a highly successful trip to the Nationals in Brisbane over the Easter weekend. The full results can be seen on the 4BarsRest Down Under link on the left.

We are pleased to advise that Townsville Brass finished second in the B Grade to a very good band from New Zealand, therefore making it the highest placed Australian B Grade band in 2008!. Brolga Brass finished 4th Nationally in the D Grade, making it the highest placed Queensland band in it's grade - HOW GOOD IS THAT?

Kim Lofthouse deserves a huge accolade for his work with both our bands. His patience, tolerance and nearly always good humour is legendary. Kim is making his way back to the UK today and we all wish him a safe trip and hope we see him again soon. Thanks Kim.

Congratulations to all the players, supporters and administration for making this trip memorable for everyone.

Congratulations also to Howard Taylor and Brisbane Excelsior for taking a record breaking 4th consecutive Nationals title in the A Grade. We have had and still have a number of ex-Townsville Brass players involved with Excelsior and feel we can claim at least a tiny bit of vicarious responsibility.

Sponsorship Acknowledgement:

Townsville Brass acknowledges the kind and generous support of the RSL Club of Townsville, Telstra and the Regional Arts Development Fund, who recently gave generous donations to our association to assist with the expenses of bringing a professional musical director from the UK to work with the Townsville musical community. We really appreciate the help.
