Townsville Brass 3rd at Nationals!!!
Townsville Brass have placed 3rd in the 2012 Australian National Band Championships, held in Melbourne over the Easter weekend.
After an exhausting but very satisfying rehearsal schedule leading up to Easter, the band scored very high, and were just a few points from the top scoring bands.
Congratulations also to Andre Melville for leading Townsville Brass to win the Street March, including Most Entertaining Change of Direction!

Townsville Brass is proof that brass bands are thriving in North Queensland. We are an organisation consisting of four bands:
All bands have active rehearsal and performance schedules throughout the year. The bands compete at local, state, and national levels at every opportunity, support local events and functions, and of course operate our very popular Christmas Carolling programme around our local streets. Everyone is welcome, as we have a place for all people of all standards. Come along for a listen or sit and play! |
Townsville Brass
With a proud history dating back over 100 years, Townsville Brass is the organisation's premier contesting and formal performance outfit. It has had great success at local, state and national championships. Most recently the band has come third in the 2012 National Band Championships (B Grade), and runner-up at the 2010, 2009, and 2008 National Band Championships. |
Brolga Brass
Our organisation houses a training band for up-and-coming brass players to hone their skills in a more relaxed musical environment. This band is also very successful in its own right, having been the highest placed Queensland band in the 2008 National D Grade contest in Brisbane. |
Show Band
The Townsville Brass Showband is the Entertainment wing of Townsville Brass. Adding a set of keyboards, guitar and bass guitar, the Showband shows the true versatility of a Brass Band. |
Youth Band
The Townsville Brass Youth Band provides tuition to beginners and intermediate players in an ensemble environment, with a link directly to Brolga Brass and Townsville Brass for accomplished players to move forward. The Youth Band is conducted by Ms Kelly Clarke-Flesser, and rehearses on Tuesday evenings. |
